Washington State Cougars Football

2013: 6-7 (4-5 Pac-12); lost Gildan New Mexico Bowl to Colorado State

The Cougars had a big time game against eventual SEC champion Auburn to begin 2013 and hung in there until the end but lost 31-24.  They did beat USC in Week 2 but otherwise got knocked around a bit in the Pac-12 schedule, losing badly to #5 Stanford, #2 Oregon, and #25 ASU.  The Cougars had one of the best passing attacks in the nation thanks to QB Connor Halliday (4,597 yards, 34 TDs), who distributed the ball very well.  Three receivers had seven touchdowns and eight receivers had at least 300 rec yards.  That should make the loss of a few receivers easier to sustain.  Halliday is back, and that’s huge because they don’t execute the other phases of the game well.  Wash State put up a measly 53.4 rushing yards per game, one of the worst marks in the FBS.  The defense was nothing special either, meaning this team was completely reliant on the passing game, making even that less effective (Halliday threw 22 picks too).  This season, the Cougars will need to improve defensively and they really can’t get much worse rushing.  Their biggest home games are against Rutgers, Oregon, Arizona, USC, and Washington.

The Washington State Cougars are North Division members of the Pac-12 Conference.  They operate under head coach Mike Leach at Martin Stadium, which holds just over 35,000 fans.  The Cougars have had a few famous NFL players throughout the years; however, currently the most notable include: Chiefs DB Husain Abdullah, Dolphins WR Brandon Gibson and Bears WR Marquess Wilson.  The Cougars had a run in the early 2000’s where they made a BCS game and were winning more than 10 games in a season, but their bowl appearance last season was their first since 2003.  They have rivalries with Washington, Idaho, Oregon, and Oregon State.  Gold Coast Tickets does not want you to miss out on the action as the Cougars look to top the Pac 12.  Gold Coast Tickets has the best selection for all your college football needs this season!
