The 2012-13 Demon Deacons were odd, inconsistent performers. They struggled through the non-conference schedule, making it out at just 7-5. But after that they pulled off some impressive conferences wins, including wins over NC State, Florida State, and Miami at home. Overall, though, it was struggle as usual as they stumbled to a 13-18 record. They had the third-fewest assists per game and were in the bottom half of the conference in scoring and rebounding. Two individual stars led the team though in guard CJ Harris (15.4 PPG) and forward Travis McKie (13.5 PPG, 7.0 RPG). Harris has now graduated and McKie has just one year of eligibility remaining, so talented youth may decide the immediate success of this program. McKie’s replacement is probably forward Devin Thomas (9.1 PPG, 7.5 RPG) and Harris’ could be Codi Miller-McIntyre (8.1 PPG). Their recruiting class is okay so Coach Bzdelik may have to find an underclassman surprise out of last year’s class.
