UNC Charlotte 49ers

The Charlotte 49ers are ready to kick off their 2012-2013 college basketball season. The 49ers play in the Atlantic 10 Conference, where they have not really found their niche. Gold Coast Tickets does not want you to miss out on the action as the 49ers look to shock the nation and head the Atlantic 10 for their final season in the conference. Grab the best seats in the house at the Dale F. Halton Arena, or follow your 49ers on the road right here at Gold Coast Tickets!
The 49ers had an off year this past season as they went 13-17 in the regular season, going 5-11 in conference play. 13-17 is not going to get you into any postseason tournament, especially the NCAA Tournament, somewhere the 49ers have not been since the 2005 season. However, the 49ers do have an history in the NCAA Tournament, making it 11 times since the program’s inception. Their best year came in 1997 when they made it all the way to the Final Four, led by conference player of the year Cedric Maxwell. The 49ers almost made it to the championship game, but fell short by two points to a very talented Marquette Golden Eagles squad. From the years 1995-2005 the 49ers made the NCAA Tournament eight times. Jeff Mullins, Melvin Watkins, and Bobby Lutz all were coaches who contributed to their success.

This season the 49ers hope to get back to the NCAA Tournament under head coach Alan Major. Major is in his second year with the program, and will turn to star player Chris Braswell to pick up the slack this season. Braswell will return for his senior season, but as a junior the big man averaged 15.8 points per game and 7.6 board per game. The 49ers play their home games at the beautiful Dale F. Halton Arena in Charlotte, North Carolina. The Niner Nation is really passionate about their basketball team, and hopes that this year is the season they get to witness a run in the NCAA Tournament.
