From 2006 to 2010 the Trojans won the Sun Belt Conference Championship every year. However, last year they had a very disappointing season, as their defense could not get any key stops. This could be due to the fact that their core defensive players are all staring in the NFL: Dallas Cowboys linebacker, DeMarcus Ware, New York Giants Super Bowl winning defensive end, Osi Umenyiora, New York Giants Super Bowl winning kicker Lawrence Tynes, and Carolina Panthers safety Sherrod Martin. DeMarcus Ware has made a dent in the NFL going to the Pro Bowl six times, being the two time NFL sacks leader, the 2008 NFC Defensive Player of the Year, and a part of the NFL 2000s All-Decade Team. He is the best player to ever wear a Trojans uniform. However, a close second would be Osi Umenyiora. Umenyiora has been a two-time Pro Bowl selection, two time Super Bowl winner, 2005 NFL sack leader, and set an NFL record for most forced fumbles in a season (10).
This season they look to get the ball in the end zone, especially at their home Veterans Memorial Stadium, which holds just about 30,000 fans. The Trojans have a very tough schedule this year, playing a rising Tennessee team as well as a good Mississippi State team.
