Stanford Cardinal

2013: 11-3 (8-2 Pac-12); lost Rose Bowl to Michigan State

Behind a dominant defense Stanford had a great season, winning the Pac-12 championship game over #11 Arizona State after being in the top 10 nearly all season.  The Cardinal got off to a 5-0 start and lost just two regular season games, upsets at Utah and USC, beating #23 ASU, #15 Washington, #9 UCLA, #2 Oregon, and #25 Notre Dame.  This all set the stage for a huge Rose Bowl game against #4 Michigan State, but they came up short on the comeback attempt.  The team was undoubtedly led by QB Kevin Hogan (2,630 yards, 20 TDs) and RB Tyler Gaffney (1,709 yards, 21 TDs).  The top receiver was Ty Montgomery (958 yards, 10 TDs).  The defense was the highlight though, of course.  Linebacker Trent Murphy (15 sacks) was taken by the Redskins in the second round.  Hogan will return, but with road games at Washington, Notre Dame, ASU, Oregon, Cal, and UCLA and home games against USC and Oregon State, Stanford could have the hardest schedule in college football in 2014.  It should be them vs Oregon for the North Division.

The Stanford Cardinals are North Division members of the Pac-12 Conference.  They operate under head coach David Shaw at Stanford Stadium, which holds just about 50,000 fans.  All-time, Stanford has 14 conference titles, two national titles, and 24 bowl appearances.  Their biggest rivalries are with USC, Notre Dame,  and geographical rival California.  Jim Plunkett and John Elway highlight their famous NFL alumni, but Toby Gerhart finished second in the Heisman to Alabama’s Mark Ingram in 2009.  Andrew Luck, Coby Fleener, and Richard Sherman are a few other well known Cardinal in the NFL.  Stanford’s one of the best academic schools to be a serious college football contender, like Miami, USC, UCLA, Michigan, and a few others.  This season the Cardinals look to get back to the BCS and Gold Coast Tickets does not want you to miss out on the action.  Gold Coast Tickets has the best selection for all your college football needs this season!
