Seattle Mariners

The Seattle Mariners are a professional baseball club housed in Seattle, Washington. The Mariners are a member of the Western Division of Major League Baseball's American League (AL). Safeco Field has been the Mariners' home ballpark  since July 1999. The "Mariners" name originates from the prominence of marine culture in the city of Seattle. The Mariners started in 1977, the city also had a team called the Pilots that lasted one year in 1971. They are the only team besides the Washington Nationals that hasn’t ever been to the World Series.
