Returning for this 13th season, Head Coach Bill Carmody will attempt to lead his Northwestern Wildcats to their first ever NCAA Tournament. The Cats were close last year, but missing a March Madness bid and instead played in their 4th consecutive NIT Tournament. For the first time in four years, the Wildcats will be without forward John Shurna who ended his fantastic career at Northwestern by becoming the program’s all-time leading scorer. In addition to Shurna, the Wildcats graduated Nick Fruendt, Luka Mirkovic and Davide Curletti. Fans can expect many new faces on sporting the purple and white at Welsh-Ryan Arena this season including a trio of freshman in 7 foot center Alex Olah, Kale Abrahamnson and Sanjay Lumpkin. The Wildcats also added some experience this offseason with transfer players Jared Swopshine and Nikola Cerina joining the team from Louisville and TCU respectively. These new faces paired with Wildcat veterans such as Drew Crawford and Reggie Hearn will make for some exciting basketball this year in Evanston.
