North Carolina State Wolfpack

The NC State Wolfpack had an up-and-down season in 2012, finishing the season at 7-5 but losing to Vanderbilt in the Music City Bowl.  NC State lost to Virginia and North Carolina, but got its highlight win of the season on October 6, incredibly defeating #3 Florida State at home.  The team was not without its individual stars, though, like quarterback Mike Glennon.  Glennon was one of the top quarterbacks in the NFL Draft, taken at #73 by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.  While NC State scored just the 71st most points per game in the country, they had the 18th most passing yards per game.  This means replacing Glennon is a huge key to NC State’s season and 2013 could be a season spent searching for that replacement.  A new quarterback won’t come from the recruiting class, where the Wolfpack have so far failed to bring in a quarterback and only have one four-star recruit (compared to 15 for Clemson and 13 for Florida State), cornerback Sean Paul.  Without the football prowess that other ACC teams like Miami, FSU, and Clemson have, NC State is at a natural disadvantage when it comes to recruiting.  However, the development of Glennon shows this team’s potential, and the next overlooked star could rise from the depths this season.  An early test on the schedule comes September 19 at home against Clemson, but games against East Carolina, Central Michigan, and Richmond should help NC State become bowl-eligible.

The North Carolina State Wolfpack plays at Carter-Finley Stadium in Raleigh, North Carolina, not far from campus.  They are a member of the Atlantic Division of the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) and have taken 11 conference titles, participating in 25 bowl games.  Carter-Finley has the smallest clearance between the stands and sidelines of any team in the ACC, creating an intimate environment even with a capacity of 60,000.  While their only double-digit win season remains 2002, the Wolfpack have made nine bowl appearances since 2000 and have suited up some future NFL stars like San Diego Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers.  The upstart Wolfpack have room for improvement, but a major opportunity to mess with the big boys in the ACC.  Don’t miss out with Gold Coast Tickets!
