The New York Knickerbockers, or Knicks, represent New York City in the Eastern Conference and Atlantic Division of the NBA. The team was founded in 1943 and joined the NBA in 1949. They have won 4 Division titles, 8 Conference titles, and 2 Championships. Between 1967 and 1975 they dominated Eastern Conference, winning Championship titles in 1970 and 1973. After a horrendous season in 1984-85, the Knicks entered and won the first-ever NBA Draft Lottery. They used their pick to draft Patrick Ewing out of Georgetown University. Ewing would go on to be one of the greatest NBA players of all time and was enacted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 2008. After Ewing was traded to the Seattle Super Sonics in 2000, the Knicks’ performance slumped for several years before acquiring Carmelo Anthony, Amar’e Stoudemire, and Tyson Chandler.
