2013: 12-2 (7-2 SEC)
The Missouri Tigers look to be a contender for years to come. Head coach Gary Pinkel led the Tigers from unranked to a number 5 ranking and a Cotton Bowl victory over Oklahoma State come the end of the 2013 campaign. The Tigers also racked up big wins over #7 Georgia and #19 Texas A&M. Not everyone will be returning for the 2014 season however. Missouri is losing a lot of talent on offense and defense including quarterback James Franklin and running back Henry Josey. It will be Maty Mauk’s turn to run the show from the quarterback position now. Mauk, who appeared in four games in 2013 due to a Franklin injury, is a promising player and looks to be the make a name for himself in the competitive SEC. The Tigers will also be returning 2013 All Conference receiver Dorial Green-Beckham.
The Missouri Tigers play their home games at Farout Field, also nicknamed “The Zou”, in Columbia. The stadium holds just over 71,000 Tiger fans, and they hope to have a good season this year under head coach Gary Pinkel. They have 15 conference titles and 30 bowl appearances. By moving to the SEC their rivalries have changed a good deal, but they still have a conference rivalry with Texas A&M and non-conference rivalries with Illinois, Kansas, Iowa State, and Nebraska. The Missouri Tigers have many players in the NFL, most notably including: St. Louis Rams wide receiver Danario Alexander, Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Blaine Gabbert, and Pittsburgh Steelers defensive lineman Ziggy Hood.
