2013: 11-1 (8-0 Big Ten) Rose Bowl Champions
The 2013 season for Michigan State was one of the best seasons in program history. The Spartans only lost one game, to Notre Dame, and went on to defeat Stanford in the Rose Bowl 24-20. They finished the year ranked number three overall. Other big time wins included wins over rivals Michigan and highly ranked #2 Ohio State. Mark Dantonio, now entering his 8th year, has turned the Michigan State Spartans into one of the best football programs in the country. The Spartans will return key contributors quarterback Connor Cook and running back Jeremy Langford for the 2014 campaign.The Spartans will look to their receivers to provided a balanced attack just like the did last year. The defense was a force to be reckoned with in 2013 and it will be tough to replace the likes of Darqueze Denard and Max Bullough. The Spartans will join the Big Ten’s new east division in 2014. Michigan State football plays at Spartan Stadium in East Lansing, Michigan. At 75,005 fans, Spartan Stadium has the space for quite the party when the Spartans are playing well, as typically always have. The Spartans have six national titles although none since 1966. The Spartans are known for their various rivalries as well, including the Paul Bunyan Trophy against Michigan, the Old Brass Spittoon against Indiana, and the Megaphone Trophy against Notre Dame.
