While they are without a strong recruit for this season, the Spartans come off last year’s Sweet 16 loss in good position for this year. None of their players declared for the Draft, and team leader in points (13.4 PPG) and assists (3.3) Keith Appling returns for his senior year. Guard Gary Harris is also quickly on the rise as he was a big scorer in his freshman year. They do lose big center Derrick Nix, whose presence will be hard to miss, but maintain great depth as usual. Seven players scored at least 4.8 PPG in the NBA and there’s no reason to think that that can’t happen again, especially with senior Adreian Payne being a strong ball sharer. Any way you look at it, Michigan State has one of the greatest college basketball programs in the nation and Gold Coast Tickets has the tickets to get you into the game!
The Spartans have enjoyed remarkable consistency in coaching. Over the last 37 years they have had just two coaches, Jud Heathcote and Tom Izzo. Heathcote coached Magic Johnson’s 1979 Spartans to the national championship, and Izzo led Jason Richardson’s 2000 Spartans to another national title. The Spartans have made the NCAA Tournament 27 times in their history including the two national titles and 16 consecutive appearances. They have become one of the country’s most consistent powerhouses year in and year out, making nine Sweet 16 appearances in the last 13 years. Don’t miss the Spartans 2013-14 basketball season!
