Kansas State Wildcats

Kansas State had quite the year again in 2012, going 11-1 in the regular season before losing the Fiesta Bowl to Oregon.  K-State’s football program had the best two-year stretch for them since the early 2000s, winning 10 games and making an appearance in the Cotton Bowl a year before.  It certainly helped to have Heisman finalist and super-mobile quarterback Collin Klein at the helm, a former wide receiver turned QB-extraordinaire.  Klein was drafted by the Houston Texans in this year’s NFL draft, so K-State will probably turn to the next JUCO (junior college) standout or one of their own.  Fortunately, the entire offensive line that allowed Klein to run wild returns this fall, and leading rusher John Hubert returns and helps with continuity.  Unfortunately, the entire front starting seven on defense are gone, along with crucial backups.  The only stability on defense comes at safety, with Ty Zimmerman (five interceptions) and Jarard Milo (82 tackles) returning.  Senior Tramaine Thompson should be the favorite target of whoever becomes quarterback after losing Klein’s favorite Chris Harper to graduation.  An offense that scored the 11th most points in the nation last year should still be able to put up points, although the transition defensively will be an adventure.  Four-star recruit Nick Ramirez will help at linebacker, but otherwise it’s a group that will take a step back.  A bowl berth is likely, but it may take a while to regain Klein-esque success.

The Kansas State Wildcats are a college football team in the Big 12 conference. The Wildcats operate under head coach Bill Snyder on the Bill Snyder Family Stadium, which holds just over 52,000 fans.  The Wildcats have many players who have made it to the NFL, most notably the current: wide receiver Brandon Banks, Green Bay Packers wide receiver Jordy Nelson, New Orleans Saints running back Darren Sproles, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Josh Freeman.  K-State has major rivalries with Iowa State and Kansas, for the Governor’s Cup.  Kansas held a 60-25-5 all-time lead as recently as 1992, but K-State has won 16 of the last 20 games to make it 64-41-5 Kansas.  The Wildcats look to repeat their winning ways this season, and Gold Coast Tickets does not want you to miss out on the action. Gold Coast Tickets has the best selection for all your college football needs this season!
