The Hoosiers operate under head coach Tom Crean at Assembly Hall in Bloomington, Indiana. The Indiana Hoosiers were a basketball powerhouse under Bob Knight from 1971-2000, winning three titles. However, Knight is gone and Crean is the new face of the Hoosiers. After a rocky start to Crean’s career, he really has the Hoosiers rolling now. They started off the season undefeated as they beat the best team in the nation and eventual national champion Kentucky Wildcats. The Hoosiers went on to beat the #2 team Ohio State Buckeyes as well as the #5 Michigan State Spartans later in the year. They finished this spectacular season 27-9 and earned a four seed in the NCAA tournament.
Although they lost to Kentucky in a re-match in the Sweet 16, the Hoosiers still accomplished a lot. They were led by Cody Zeller, Christian Watford, and Victor Oladipo, who all came up huge when needed throughout the season. Tom Crean was awarded coach of the year, something that had not been done in Hoosier basketball since Bob Knight, and the Hoosiers have a big upside.
