2012-13 was an incredible season for Indiana basketball as the Hoosiers returned to their former glory in being considered the best team in the nation for much of the early part of the season. Even heading into the NCAA Tournament many fans and experts picked them to win their sixth national title. But a Sweet 16 loss to Syracuse ended their season in disappointment. At 80 points per game, Indiana scored the third-most points in the nation behind a dominant duo of Cody Zeller (16.5 PPG, 8.0 RPG) and Victor Oladipo (13.6 PPG, 6.3 RPG). But both of them have moved on to the NBA, so five-star recruit Noah Vonleh and three other four-star recruits may have a little pressure on them to replicate last year’s success. The Hoosiers also lose guard Jordan Hulls and forward Christian Watford. But Coach Tom Crean has perfected his gameplan and the Hoosiers will definitely benefit from having such a strong coach.
The Hoosiers operate under head coach Tom Crean at Assembly Hall in Bloomington, Indiana. The Indiana Hoosiers were a basketball powerhouse under Bob Knight from 1971-2000, winning three titles. However, Knight is gone and Crean is the new face of the Hoosiers. After a rocky start to Crean’s career, he really has the Hoosiers rolling now with two straight trips to the Sweet 16 and a roster that was widely picked to win a national title before last season. Indiana has 37 all-time appearances in the NCAA tournament and five national championships, most recently 1987. Grab your best seats for all Hoosier action this season at Gold Coast.
