Tim Beckman will start his first season as the Illinois Fighting Illini’s head coach in 2012 after the former head coach, Ron Zook, was fired at the end of the regular season. Last season, the Illini finished with a 7-6 record overall and went on to win the Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl with defensive coordinator Vic Koenning holding the interim position for head coach. Now, Coach Beckman is eager to show Illini fans what his team is capable of and continue the success they have had in recent years. Linebacker Jonathon Brown will likely return as a key player on the defensive side and on the watch list for the Lott IMPACT Trophy. Center Graham Pocic will also return for his senor year and his offensive input will leave him on the watch list for the Rimington Trophy. The Illinois Fighting Illini football program is based in Urbana-Champaign, Illinois at the University of Illinois.
