The Dave Matthews Band is a rock band founded in Charlottesville, Virginia, in 1991. The band combines rock with some jazz fusion, folk rock, bluegrass, and alternative rock influences. The founders include guitarist and singer Dave Matthews, bassist Stefan Lessard, drummer Carter Beauford, and saxophonist LeRoi Moore. Moore passed away in 2008 from complications from an ATV accident, so Jeff Coffin was added. The current band also includes trumpeter Rashawn Ross, electric guitarist Tim Reynolds, and violinist Boyd Tinsley. “DMB” released their first album, Remember Two Things, in November 1993, but gained much of their national fame from their next two albums, Under the Table and Dreaming and Crash, in 1997. Since then, DMB has maintained national and international popularity through six more studio albums, and in 2004 Matthews won a Grammy Award for his performance on album Some Devil’s lead single, “Gravedigger”.
