Alabama, a southern rock and country band from the state of Alabama, will perform at Ravinia on Friday, August 30th. The band was founded in 1969 by Randy Owen who does lead vocals and rhythm guitar and Teddy Gentry who does bass guitar and background vocals. After Owen graduated from Jacksonville State University, the two of them plus lead guitarist/fiddle/keyboard players Jeff Cook quit their day jobs and weekend gigs to work on the band, traveling around South Carolina to get a sense of the club scene. They are credited with bringing country into the mainstream. In 1998 the band earned a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The band has over 30 number one country records on the Billboard charts and have sold over 73 million records. They played a farewell tour in 2003, but Cook told the press that it didn’t end right. So they’re on tour again. Don’t miss your chance to see these country legends--Gold Coast Tickets will get you in for the best value!
